Greetings, and welcome to Anime Versus. Like it's predecessors, Anime Versus will pit two competitors against each other each week, to see which one PPTers prefer. To vote, please select the anime you like best from the poll at the top of this topic, then feel free to discuss your choice below. The winner of the week will move onto the next round, and will face a new challenger anime. Should an anime win for six weeks straight, it will be removed from the competition and placed into the Anime Hall of Fame.
Last week, Cowboy Bebop tied with Ayashi no Ceres with six votes each. In order to keep the usual format of two anime competing against each other, I flipped a coin to determine this week's competitor. Ceres will continue this week, and in a few weeks Cowboy Bebop will return to the competition. The tie does count as a victory for both competitors, so when Cowboy Bebop returns, it will only need to win for three weeks in order to enter the Anime Hall of Fame.

Series Information:
Ayashi no Ceres (a.k.a. Ceres: The Celestial Legend) is a romantic action-drama produced by Studio Pierrot which aired in Japan from 4/20/00 to 9/28/00 (24 episodes).*
Mikage Aya and her twin brother Aki were just ordinary teenagers. Or least so they thought until they went to celebrate their 16th birthday and the Mikage family attempted to murder Aya. This anime, based on the manga by Watase Yuu, follows Aya as she attempts to unravel the mystery behind the Mikage family and the celestial maiden who wishes to seek her revenge upon the family responsible for her suffering.
Fullmetal Alchemist (a.k.a Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) is an adventure drama produced by Bones, Aniplex, Square-Enix and Mainichi Broadcasting. Its 51 episodes ran from October 2003 to October 2004.* It is also currently being run as a part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim line-up in the United States.
Full Metal Alchemist is the story of two brothers who are gifted alchemists. When their mother dies, they decide to use their powers to restore her to life, violating the taboo against human transmutation. They pay a terrible price for their mistake. Edward, the elder brother, is left with a mechanical arm and leg, while Alphonse, the younger of the two, finds his soul bound to an empty suit of armor. The story follows their quest for the Philosohper's Stone, a legendary material with the power to restore their bodies.**
