So... what do you guys think?
I just saw it and I hate to say it, but it got very emotional. Even though The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book of the series, my favourite movie has got to be this one. Nicely done.

the movie was very nicely done... and of course it got emotional... the ending is scary and horrifying!
However, i dont like the parts that were left out..... such as:
A) DOBBY gives Harry the Gillyweed
B) The stages in the maze.... like being turned upside down...the sphinx...
C) The Existance of Ludo Bagman
Yeah. And theres more... and the beginning sure jumped alot... anybody who hadnt seen the book would be realllly confused.

I saw it last night also. I also think it was good, although they did have to cut a lot. There were no houselves, not a whole lot with Cho, not much with the fighting between Ron and Harry, I don't know- it just seemed like it was missing some details. I realize it's a huge book though, and they need to cut things out.
However, all in all it was a good movie. I really liked the Quidditch World Cup scene a lot.
And remind me never to go to a midnight showing of any movie ever again. XD Tired and cold Matt does not make a good combination.
Oh, and Emma Watson is hot. :O

They cut a lot out of all the movies and that definitly can't be helped. They didn't cut/change anything majorly important so I don't really care. A friend's friend, who hasn't read the books, said that the thing that people who have read the books can't appreciate is how all the movies are put together in a way that makes sense and interconnects and those because they will only see flaws (ie: what's missing) and not how well the movies are woven together and how each movie goes at a good pace and makes sense.
I'm still depressed from the movie and I slept for a night already. Sheesh. That was both the saddest and funniest Harry Potter movie yet.

I also liked the Prisoner of Azkaban the best (of the books), and though I was disappointed with the movie for it, I think I still like that one the best. The fourth book was huge so a lot of it had to be cut out, but I still think there should have been more in it. I would've liked a little more human interaction in it. This movie was impressive and it was good, but for some reason I just didn't like it all that much. Maybe I'll watch it again when I'm less stressed/tired and I'll change my mind about it. I also didn't like all the innuendos in this one... it just didn't seem very Harry Potter-like.
As surprised as I am to hear myself say this, GoF was not too bad. It was really choppy, especially at the beginning, but I thought the interaction between the kids at Hogwarts was much more realistic. You could actually believe that they went to school together and everything. Moody was excellent, a lot better than I thought he'd be. Dumbledore, however, looks like he escaped from the old folks' home or something O.o
I counted, and they left out 29 characters. Not to mention almost every aspect of the plot not related to the tournament. I wish they'd go into character development more. Oh, and Daniel Radcliffe needs to NEVER BE SHIRTLESS AGAIN. -twitch-

The "jumping around" in the beginning was necessary due to the fact that the conversion of a massive book into a < 2hour movie requires some cropping... but that makes me scared when I think about how they're going to cram Half Blood Prince into a reasonable movie length o.O;;
(if it were up to me? Make it a 5 hour movie

Choppy. That's a good word to describe it. It was really good, and the ending was totally sad when Harry was crying, and everyone was cheering but they really should not have been. But yeah... Choppy, very Harry focused (I even felt like we barely saw Ron and Hermione in this one... not to mention no Malfoy, Cho, or even Fleur).
Rita Skeeter was pretty pointless. Why introduce her and then not really do anything with her? That time could have been used for something else. She wasn't relevant to the movie plot like she was for the book plot.
Still, it was enjoyable and wasn't bad. Obviously they had to cut a lot, but it just felt... choppy is actually a really good word.

I thought it was really bad. They left stuff out that should have been in, and spent too much time on stuff that shouldn't have been in there.
The maze part was horrible. Why did the whole time they were in the maze, did the maze keep trying to eat them? That's not part of it in the book. They left out all the good stuff in the maze. They could have taken out 5 minutes of the maze changing, and put in the part where it turns Harry upside down. And did they just not go to class at all that year, other than that first lesson with Moody? They could have left out the dancing lessons and put in Dobby giving Harry the gillyweed. The first part of the movie was bad too. It wouldn't have been that hard to show Winky with Barty. And why on earth weren't the Weasley's with Fudge in the box? No Ludo Bagman? And like it was pointed out, it didn't say who won the match. I was also mad that they didn't show Mrs. Weasley come surprise Harry by being at the last task. Dumbledore was waaaaaay too angry and overacting the whole movie. Why was Barty in the Riddle house at the beginning? And why did the portkey drop them off (at the tourny) up in the sky and not on the ground?? Where was Percy at the tourny? And why on earth didn't Hermione catch Rita as a bug? How are they going to explain why Rita's not writing stuff in the next book? The movie wasn't wrapped up well at all. I don't know how they're going to start the next movie without the end of this one. The dragon bit was cool, but they could have cut that in half, and added something they left out.

I thought the movie was really good and close to the book. I liked it a lot but there were some "Huh" moments. I didn't like how they left Dobby out but I thought it was creative that they used Neville to give Harry the Gillyweed, I mean if anyone else could have done that, he would have. I miss Dobby though. I thought was very strange how the Death Eaters look like the KKK. I mean, I knew they had hoods and masks on, but these guys looked like the KKK in their pointed hats and stuff. It is fitting I guess.
Another thing was when Barty is walking with Harry and says something like he is sorry that Harry's parents died and that it left him "not quite whole" or whatever. That moment in the move, well maybe it was a clue. I mean, he gives Harry a strangely significant ( I thought) look. Anyway, killing someone can split the soul, but what about Loosing someone? Is Harry as broken up as voldemort is? Would that weaken Harry or make him stronger to be split up inside. I don't think Harry is a Horcrux, but perhaps there is something going on here. Harry isn't quite whole, which means maybe he can understand what Voldemort, who isn't whole, feels. I don't know, maybe pity will play a part in this. Harry knows a lot about Voldemort now, so maybe he knows his past and also feels broken up inside. He can pity Voldemort, instead of fearing him, so in the end maybe he can do what he has to do instead of being afraid. It is hard to be afraid when you actually pity someone. You might still bring them to justice though, if they are very evil, but you won't fear them while you do it.
Also in the movie I kind of pitied Voldemort. I think Ralph as Voldmort looks pretty good. Maybe not as scary because he didn't seem to have red eyes or they were not red enough or something. Anyway, he didn't really seem scary, just ugly. I mean, he looked everything like I thought Voldemort would look like, but knowing his past from the books, I pitied him a little. When he came out of the cauldron he seemed to look at his arms and stuff, like "look at what I have become" or something. Just for a second he seemed sad at his appearence, and I kind of felt sorry for the ugly dude there for a second.
Also I missed the part where a phoenix appears when the wands connected. I didn't see a phoenix, or hear one, and that was sad because I wanted the bird there to give Harry hope, and it was left out or I missed it.
But I loved all the little funny parts in this movie. Ron, Fred and George were funny. Snape was even funny at one part. And Filch dancing with his cat. LOL. There were some..um..naughty parts. I mean, one part were Harry was in the bath was really naughty as Myrtle kept looking down at Harry and even though there were bubbles I think she could see what she was looking at. LOL. Definately not a kids movie, this one. And there was a part where Mad Eye has a weasle coming out of his pants. I mean he is sitting down and there is a weasle right between his legs and that just didn't look right at all. I think it was meant to be in his belt or in his pocket but well, they could have chosen a better spot for it. They obviously wanted people to be looking right there or they wouldn't have put the weasle there. And well, since he had previously turned Draco into a weasle I was thinking "I wonder who that is sitting there." LOL.
The yule ball was nice until they started playing the "dance like a hippogryph song" that song got on my nerves. It is just dumb. I wouldn't dance to that I think, even if I were a wizard. It sounds like a little kiddy song to me that little kid wizards might like to dance to.
