It never occurred to me until now that the buzz might be a wasp o_O Tail like that doesn't exactly scream "wasp" to me. I agree with Armi, the other darigan buzz picture would've been great.

The whole Bee thing never made much sense to me since Buzz have no visiable stinger and was never hinted they stung, heck, now Buzz are considered carnivores in the lastest TCG expansion. o_O Guess since Buzz was the only insect for such a long time, they decide Buzz= bee noise and tacked the bee trait to them. Not complaining with baby Buzz's apperance though.

Well, like I said, I think the intent of their design was originally to be a dragonfly, but even the first buzz webpages said they had a queen and lived in swarms. Even had a honeycomb background.

Many wasps do have the same tail as a dragonfly, they just never have four wings.

Hymenoptera can be carnivores too. Most hornets prey on bees, and many wasps are predators or parasites.

Course, it's also hinted now that Buzz eat dung.

Like you said, they were once the only insect. I think they were just made into generic, all-around "bug things".
