Ah yes, I heard about this in a past issue of Popular Science magazine. They take your remains, cremate them, then extract the pure carbon and put it in a diamond press. It gives a whole new meaning to "family heirloom".

However, that ad is slightly misleading, because the diamonds aren't clear/white, they have a yellow-ish hue. It's impossible with current technology to make a man-made diamond look completely natural like that.

Ooo. I saw a Modern Marvels that featured something like this. They were making diamonds out of everything, even peanut butter. Personally, I would rather the Roddenberry/Doohan treatment and be scattered in space. Or maybe like the creator of the frisbee. He was made into a frisbee.

Science just lets us have too much fun in the afterlife :D

I remember reading an article on that many months ago in the dentist's waiting room. Hmm.

Fortunately for my future family's finances, I don't even like diamonds very well. All they will need to do is cremate me and throw my ashes into the sea. :D

Well, actually... The show where I saw that nugget of information actually got to play catch with one of the frisbees. It flew pretty well :P

i dont care about being a yellow diamond! thats fine! or better yet, they could try introducing whatever impurity it is that makes diamonds pink! a pink diamond!!
