The problem with something like this is that once it's been onde it's been done; nobody will really be intrested in "new" experiments....

Even though the first one doesn't "prove" anything (I.E. it's not a true experiment) it has at least been intresting to follow.

Anything following in the exact same footsteps would simply be boring and for profit (Which the original wasn't).

Just my two-pence. :peace:

Yes, exactly right. Either I am going to use it to train abandoned pets to put up for adoption or sell the lab map and split it's profits up to donate.

As a quick update, no decent offers on the petpet paintbrush -- the highest offer was a Lucky Robots Foot...

Anybody itching to get their petpet interested in the disco-lifestyle? Then it's a good thing you showed up when you did because the latest trade is just the thing you've been hunting for!

Groovy, baby! 8)

I have a few things in my SDB that might be of some use... I'll offer all of them at once, and then see if any of them are up to your prices... neomail me back if any of them beat the current offering.

The item is worth about 100k. :)

Edit:
Time for an update. I finally had a good offer on the paint brush and then the trading lot expired so I had to put it back up and hope the person who offered will put their offer back up as well.

I'm still doing the experiment, it's just going pretty slow.

The trade is now here.

Just a question... I noticed on the listing that you have that it is part of the OBMP experiment. Might that make people who don't know about the experienment think they aren't allowed to trade, that only if you are participating in it you can get it? Or that's it's a group of something you have to belong to to get it.

I've never thought about that before, sounds logical though. If I don't get an acceptable offer within the next few days I'll have to update the wish list.

I do have an offer of a Red Codestone but it's worth less than the paint brush and I don't want to take another step back in price.

I agree, it is quite misleading, you could make it a bit more explicit, and put a link to your page.

Hee! Maybe the person who offered it is doing their own experiment. ;)

I think it would be very, very easy to start out with something extremely valuable and end up with nothing, even without advertising. If someone wants to experiment with that, PM me the trade link to your first trade... I guarantee my offer will underwhelm you. :D

Haha, Katy! With all the junk offers I've gotten on my things that would only take one trade. ;) But then, that was mostly the earlier trades. I guess, for codestones and faeries, it's people hoping I'm a newbie who doesn't know what items are worth. By the time you're trading 40k+ items, most people guess you're not newbie.

I'm trying a somewhat similar experiment - only it's not really the same. I'm trying to trade until I have an FQD to get the avatar - cause there's no way I'll ever save up that amount. ;) I started with several items (codestones and a cheap petpet), added a few neopoints along the way, and now I have a Halloween Petpet paint brush. Also, I'm looking for items, not waiting for them. The total profit is, so far, about 60,000, I think..? I'd have to check.
I sold a few items when they got to hard to sell and traded the money from them (and a cheap item). At that point it's a lot easier to buy items - people don't want cheaper items, but they're happy to trade for a few too few neopoints. Heh.

Good luck with your trades - I might trade with you if I ever get that high. ;)

I'm doing the same thing, unadvertised, for my own profit
and I think you should definately change the message to include a short description of the experiment. that way, it won't scare poeple off.

I wonder, are you still working on this or has it lain forgotten? Perhaps you should try again - and restart the trade, it will have fallen way back by now.

Mine lay forgotten for ages, but then this topic reminded me of it and now I'm looking for new items to trade for. Got a current value of 800k - if I can just double it I'll be able to get the FQD avatar. :D That would be so cool.

It's really awesome, though, because I'm just waiting for the weather to change for my third avatar I wouldn't have otherwise gotten from this. :) That's mainly my goal right now - haha, yay for avatars! :D (I've wanted SO LONG for the Icy Snowflake.)
