Which username?

#1 Post by JCMidore »

Here's the deal. I'm torn with what username I should permanently use on Neopets. Can you help?.

JCMidore - Should technically be viewed as JC Midore, as it's a name -- not a word.
Pros: Art would be signed as JCM. Short signatures just work better.
Cons: Feared it sounds slightly boyish/masculine, although that's
been a consistant problem in my head. But I think I'm just too critical
on myself and pick at myself too often.

Midore - Second half of the name.
Pros: Doesn't look as 'crowded' as JCMidore?. Isn't as masculine?.
Cons: Feared it sounds too Japanese, which it's not, and
does not necessarily want to be classified as crazy obsessive
'otaku'.. which I ain't. >(

Hmm, I'd say midore because it's shorter and simpler.

Likewise. It's actually sounds quite pretty.

That being said however, I wouldn't worry about names sounding too masculine or not as long as you're happy with them. Some people on the Neoboards and other locations around Neopets are going to get your gender wrong irrelevant of how the name sounds or what the "Gender" status says.

If you are going to sign with JCM all the time, it might be better to use JCMidore.
But if you're just going for the looks of the username, then Midore is better :)
It alright, it doesn't sound Japanese. Is Japanese sounding names classified as otaku? o_O

Midore :) I like it. Sounds more french to me than japanese but I don't really know either language much so... heh.

But I do like the JCM signature too.. but if it were to be a username.. I'd prefer Midore.

Good Luck.

Thank you so far for all your wonderful replies!.

Unfortunately I still find myself stuck, as the only other concern I have now is that I'm afraid my username (if midore) would be too similar to the pet names I have in mind. They all share the same qualities, made-up original names that don't have underscores or numbers etc.

Would...
A pet named Honekun look strange next to an owner named Midore?. You see how there isn't much distinction from one or the other?.

The look different enough to me. My only statement about the combo is (this is going to sound strange) that it sounds to "warm" together. J and C are more "cool" letters.

H names remind me of orange and M names remind me of purple. J reminds me of green.

Although I'm not 100% in understanding, I think I get the general idea. XD
Now if only I could get some free time to actually choose/deside/play. T_T!!

I feel that the first one (jc) feels much more masculine. i noticed that immediately, thought one sounded like a guy and one like a girl name, and found it interesting that you put that in your post.

JCMidor certainly sounds and looks a lot more proffesional, and in no way sounds masculine to me. It sounds like it would be a very cool name for a character, too. ^^
