Ah yeah, I heard about that a few days ago.

The little picture on the article is misleading, because that explosion only occurs from FISSION, not FUSION (fission splits atoms apart, fusion fuses them together).

And relatively speaking, it's not hard to build a small nuclear fusion reactor like that. Dozens of people have done that before.

He can't use it to power the house, because a small one like that uses more power than it emits. And building a large-scale one is costly and unstable.

Theres an awesome story about a kid who did that, a couple of years ago, but stopped when the radiation levels around his neighbour hood were too high.

Ir ead somewhere, on a rwite up of how he did it (which I think has now been removed because it was so detailed) that he currently works on a Nuclear Submarine, because he joined the army. But has no interest in nuclear reactors anymore (phew)

My dad told me about this kid who did something like that, only he used smoke detectors and he didnt have enough time to make it..
He put all these smoke detectors in a shack outside his house and smoke detectors have a little chip in them that is radioactive, so get enough and you have a whole lot of radiation. So anyway, he goes and fills this shack up by getting people to donate and buying smoke detectors and everything, word spreads because he mentioned about it to this college proffesor guy who calls the government and they come and take all of them away..

it was really interesting tho..

Yep. That was David Hahn, who Marcus mentioned in his post above. I think someone told me that his neighbours called the police because the shack was glowing a bit.

Should've started his own TV show called 'Glowin Dave' who teaches children about the dangers of playing near nuclear reactors and how the waste will not give you any superpowers. Besides glowing. And the power to make your hair fall out. Once.

Rofl. No offense but radiation wont make a shed glow. That'd be awesome though
