Suspended!

#1 Post by aquila »

THIS ACCOUNT HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED.

You have been SUSPENDED for the following reason:

Neopets IS NOT a dating agency or advice service for you OR your pet! This includes asking for dates, neo-marriages, dating/mating websites, dating guilds, dating roleplay, etc ... Do not discuss how attractive you think you are or someone else is.

I haven't dared venture on the neoboards in a long long time. As I'm bored and have a horrendous cold, leaving me unable to sleep, I ventured in. In my rather cold-fuelled sarcastic mood I replied to an awful pre-adolescent type 'boy/girl chat' board with "because, OMG, talking to a boy on the internet is so thrilling. -_-"

30 seconds later I am suspended. TNT does not appreciate sarcasm, I guess. Are they justified in suspending me, do you thinK?

Was it a first time offense or were you doing things of that nature for a lengthy amount of time?

I was suspended literally thirty seconds after posting it, I didn't have time to post anything else. I probably have posted things like that before - I'm a horribly sarcastic person when it comes to those sort of boards - but like I said, I haven't been on the boards in months if not a year. :(

You have every right to be upset/angry, but I can see where TNT is coming from. Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet.

Indeed, sarcasm is one of the hardest things to detect over the internet, they really should come up with a "sarcastic" smilie. Personally I tend to put [/ sarcasm] at the end of any sarcastic comment on any forum I post on just in case.

Okay, in a way I do understand where TNT is coming from because I can think of at least five situations in which me and my boyfriend have argued because he said something sarcastic online. Everything online has to be taken completely literal unless otherwise stated with a hearty "haha" or something to that effect.

BUT, it was wrong on their part if you've never done it before.

BUT BUT, they didn't freeze you, they only suspended you. If they had frozen you for that, hoo boy..

Same here, but I'm usually the sarcastic one.

It just sounds like TNT suspended you for contributing to the situation. The suspension isn't permanent, so I'd say you're lucky. Seems like TNT can be fickle sometimes. I can also understand TNT's thinking on this.

This is probably just bad luck. I've posted much worse and have never been so much as warned. 0_o It's likely that a moniter simply decided to suspend everyone on that board. Although TNT claims that moniters read posts before making judgments, I'm sure a long workday in the unrelenting idiocy of the neoboards would make anyone a little triggerhappy.

I don't think it's fair, but I don't think it's a big deal either. Suspensions are no more than a few days, right?

I don't think TNT encourage sacarsm, since there are many kids using the site and they may not understand sacarsm.
If you really want to insert a sacarstic text into your message next time, I suggest you use this: [sacarsm][/sacarsm]. Then maybe you'll be more understood. Well, at least by TNT.
Just be careful to avoid the neoboards, especially those kind of topics. I always avoid the neoboards when I can, unless I'm on a quest or is feeling kind and wants to be a quest helper. o_0
You don't have to avoid PPT, though! :)

I'd consider yourself lucky that you were only suspended (although, of course it does suck).

TNT's been on a huge freezing rampage lately - I know 3 friends who have been frozen for "multiple accounts", and I've heard of quite a few more.

I'm at the point where I'm too paranoid to do anything on Neo apart from the Advent Calendar and make sure my account is still there ._.

Yeesh. I accidentally played a game on one of my sides a few days ago and thought nothing of it since I knew I wasn't going to play the same game on my main. Luckily nothing came out of it, but I guess I'll have to be more careful now.

Why can't we have all 20 pets on a single account? It would make things so much easier....

(That was a rhetorical question, BTW. ;P)

Yea, I have a side account that I lab on, and I don't even want to go in there to lab. I'd rather miss a few days of labbing, than have my accounts frozen ._.

:( I feel sorry for you, recently, I got my first ever warning (I'm not all that scared of the Neoboards) when I was just trying to mediate an argument - I got a really silly warning that, to be honest, didn't make any sense. Just try to forget about it... I guess, there's nothing you can do, really.

It really is my own fault for being so sarcastic, I accept that. Give me a break though TNT, I'm suffering with a cold and I have to take it out somewhere! In the light of all these warnings and freezings I guess I'll stay clear of the boards - now I remember why I stopped going there in the first place. I'm hoping it was a sort of blanket suspension of everyone on that thread rather than just me, though. I was only trying to discourage the whole thing.

 <--- needs to be a neoboard smiley. until then, [/sarcasm] it will be!

Even if it was sarcastic - if it's against the rules, TNT doesnt want it talked about. In any context. A sarcastic comment probably promotes neo-dating MORE than a straight one.

Plz dont take this the wrong way, I'm not intending to be mean.
