Giving gifts is often 10x better than receiving.
So, what's the best gift you've ever given to someone? (Don't tell me you cheap out and go with gift cards or moo-lah. Tsk, that's no fun.)

My best present was for my Psychology teacher. He's total awesome-sauce, and one of his favorite movies is Office Space. So, after the semester change, I got him Milton's beloved red Swingline stapler...and set it on fire. The thing was so charred, it was awesome. And obviously, c'mon, a comical stapler is the BEST ironic teacher gift. (It's a shame, because he can't keep it on his desk, so it stays in a drawer. I mean, how would you explain that to someone? Yeah, ummm, my student poured some gasoline on this baby and lit on fire. Ch'yeah, it's a present, by the way.)

I think the best gift I ever gave was a large picture frame filled with pictures of my best friend and I. I gave it to him when we were best friends, and now looking back it seems kind of perfect as we're now dating and most likely going to be married and have kids down the road.

I have written and composed and entire song for someone. Then I made a hardcore version (band plays hardcore music) and a calm acoustic version of that same song.

It was a lot of work and its a gift that always stays no matter what.

Both versions will be on our cd when it comes out ^_^

For my dad's 50th birthday, I got him 50 presents, ranging from small things like his favourite chocolate bars, socks and a mug, up to tickets to go see Eric Clapton. My bank account is still recovering today. :lol:

I think that's up to the receivers to decide.

Then I'll have to one-up you with bone marrow.

*Is too chicken to do so.*

Wrote a long poem :)
I write some to friends once in a while.. so yeah ^ ^;;
I don't know what was the BEST, but there's one that made my sister cry, heh. Gave her 3 red roses, and one plastic rose.
Wrote her a letter beside it that said :
I Gave you 4 Roses,
1 False
And 3 Real Ones,
I'll stop loving you as the last one dies..

She though it was so cute and so nice she hugged me and started to cry.. o__o;;
The weird thing is.. when my mother saw the gift, well she said : Well Caro, the roses are gonna die..

I bought my boyfriend a book for Valentine's Day this year, which he loved. It's nothing big, but just his reaction made me feel really good.

It was a book that he previously owned and always talked about, though when we first started dating my car got broken in to and it was stolen. One day he he pointed out the book to me in a magazine, so the next time I was at the book store, I found the magazine and got the title of the book.

He was very happy when he found out what I had got for him, and the fact that I rememberd it.

Hmm...

Well, one year my dad had pnuemonia before Christmas, so we couldn't get each other gifts, and I wrote out poems for my family.

It's the insignificant things that count.

Normally I do National Novel Writing Month alone. But this past November, my 13 year old sister dicided to take a shot at it. She isn't that comfortable with typing yet so she handwrote the whole thing. She ran out of story to tell at 30K...that's still an accomplishment.

Anyways...www.lulu.com usually has this promotion for NaNo winners. If you reach 50K, they will give you a paperback bound copy of your novel for free. My sister was dissappointed that she wouldn't get to see her manuscript in actual book form. So one day while I had the house to myself I scanned all of her handwritten pages and typed out the whole thing (my boyfriend helped with this) and paid lulu to have it bound. I gave it to her for Christmas.

My gosh, the reaction was so unbelievably great I feel all warm and fuzzy thinking about it. She read half the title out loud before the realization set it. She screamed in shock, I think she started to cry and she was spontaneously hugging me for the rest of the day. She wasn't expecting it at all.

Hm.

Perhaps the hat I knitted for my teacher. I gave it to her for Christmas.
She wore it every ski class. That made me happy.
