H O W - D O - I - R E C O R D - M Y S E L F ?
1) make sure you have a microphone,
and its plugged in.

2) you need a program to record with.
you can use any program
of your own for those who dont know where to find one,
i personally use Audacity, the download page is below:

3) download Audacity, install, open it

4) position your microphone beside the
corner of your mouth (this way you dont hear statics when
ever you pronounce P's or breathing into the mic heavily).

5) Then press the red button to start
recording, after you finish recording, press the yellow square.

6) Now all you need is to save the
recording by clicking:
File > Export As > (format of your choice)
I suggest choosing "MP3...", because the file is smaller.
in order to save in .mp3, please download the following
zip file and extract "lame_enc.dll" anywhere in your computer.

7) After saving your recording, upload it
onto the net, some recommended websites are:

If anyone was going to be "judges", they'd have to be nominated by everyone who going to contribute, instead of just getting the first five people jumping in and saying "I'll be a judge", 'cause that wouldn't be very fair, would it? It also might deter people from actually joining in the first place.

Not that I'll be playing or contributing in any way (other than this post.) so I guess it doesn't matter, that is just my thoughts. I actually think such an competition or game would be pretty pointless. Some people may be averse of criticism and being 'kicked out'. Especially by a 'maverick' judge. We wouldn't want any Simon Cowells around here, would we?

Aside from people being ninnies about being voted out, it would be a cool thing to hear people's singing voices. We have a couple talented people on this forum.

If people can't handle criticism then they shouldn't join... just because they take it personally doesnt mean the other people that want to go along with this shouldnt be aloud to.

As Kym pointed out though, how would it be done? For the contestants and such?

I'm all for the critisim, it's helpful and Simon is the only one on that show that really knows what he's talking about. Sure Randy adn Paula have their moments, but everything I listen to Il Divo I ceep thinking, "Man Simon knows what he's talking about."

I agree with the judges bit, I think they should be nominated, not just jump in. It will take a lote of work.

I'm just more interested in the 'How' I know some people on here, myself included like to sing and have recordings of themselves. But would it have to be a ca pella (or how ever you spell it) or could it be something we've already recored? *Is curious*

I think it should have to be acapella though, to be fair to people who can't get accompaniment.

For those of us who may be interested, but not totally competent when it comes to technology, could there be a written out process of how to record yourself using a computer microphone and a place for us to upload our files? If so, I would be interested in joining in!

I'd be interested in joining as a contestant, it sounds a lot of fun. It'd be good if anyone could help contestants out with the technicalities. It's hard to listen to singing when there's nothing in the background. And I honestly wouldn't mind criticisms, because I know I totally lack vocal talent.

yes thats a good idea, i have included a tutorial for it.
and every one please help advertise and get a lot of people to sign up!!
