You can get songs from other people on infared (though it'll take a rather long time and you have to keep them pretty much right next to each other), though I'm not sure if there's anything you can get for your computer.

I've never actually had a phone with infared, and my current phone is the first I've had with bluetooth. I don't think I'd ever buy a phone without bluetooth now though, I use it so much. (Admittedly mainly for sending/receiving pictures in the common room...)
