Haha, same thing here. I've done a few songs... over and over again, but I can't bring myself to actually sing the song, because it will be fairly loud and I live in an apartment, and I am right next to a wall heater that directs noise to my neighbor's bathroom. xD So I end up not being very loud and end up monotonous.
I'll be doing and finishing mine tomorrow, however.
Good job, Robin.

Dear contestants
just a side note, i realized that your recordings would be A LOT bigger if you save it in WAV rather than MP3
so i suggest contestants saving in MP3 format, because its a lot smaller and you can put it on your ipod, and it'd be easier for the judges to download.
in order to save in MP3 with Audacity, just download http://www.webhostxpress.net/%7Emitiok/lame-3.96.1.zip, and extract "lame_enc.dll" anywhere on your computer, and you will be able to save in MP3 format
although its not mandatory, its just a suggestion.
and now, i would like to post my entry =P
Donny Hathaway - A Song For You
http://www.wikiupload.com/download_page.php?id=108785
backup:http://files-upload.com/139288/asong.mp3.html
(for files-upload.com, the download button is kinda tricky to find, scroll down and look at the ads section, its camouflaged at the bottom there)
the high note at the end is dreadful but ahhhhh well....

ROFL, okay so NONE of those are my entry, but listen to the first one on there.. Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf. I got feedback as "lovely voice".. meanwhile half of the song I did as Towlie from South Park meets whatshisname from AC/DC and I skipped most of the song (hence my goofing off)
I promise promise promise I'm gonna get my entry in soon soon. Tonight or tomorrow, srsly.

Anyone have any sort of tips on how to make it so that I can actually hear something through the mic while I'm recording? I've put the mic volume all the way up, but I almost have to scream to even hear anything in it (even then, it's barely audible).
It was fine a few days ago, but I've recorded about 5 different songs today, and each time I can barely hear a thing when I play it back (with the volume nearly up)

Okay, I should've expected this, but I tried to do an entry yesterday, and I just couldn't do it.
So I'm pulling out now. I hope it's not too short notice.
No, I never officially left; yes, I am gone forever. I have also permanently left AIM. If you need to contact me, drop a line on LJ. Same username.

if theres a volume adjuster on your microphone, try turning it to max.
if you use Audacity, look under the panel of icons(pause, play, stop...etc)
you should see 2 lines with and "+" and "-" at each end, try adjusting both arrows to the right(the "+" side)
Jasujo wrote:I cannot get the wikiupload songs to work. :/ I click "download file" and enter the code it says and click "get file", but then it opens my WMP and I get a message that says it can't play it. O.o
that seems to happen in Internet Explorer, but it works fine on Firefox
i will figure out a solution....there must be an option somewhere to turn off the option of playing the file.
but for now, i have uploaded Uncle Xyzzy's entry on

this is really difficult for me, i dont want to force you, but i dont want you to quit neither. c'mon Tymaporer!!!! just do it girl, just submit anything
even if you cant hold a note, you have made a commitment, so fulfill it with the best ability you can, thats all i ask.
at least get eliminated gracefully than quitting in shame.
please please reconsider.

Okay, well, thing is, it's really really hard to get my mouth to open...I feel really self-conscious on my own, but Emma wants me to do a duet with her, and I think I could do that, so I'll "withdraw my withdraw".

What I do, is I plug my headphones into the speakers, and fiddle with the volume, with the microphone turned on. It's mostly the wave volume and mic volume.
