Er. Last time I checked, Neopets is an MMORPG. What did you think Neopets was categorized as?

I interviewed a Neopets VP a few years ago and he was pretty darn adamant that I not call Neopets a game. Maybe it's a social web site?

Odd! Is that VP still working at Neopets? (I heard, months ago, that there was a bit of a shakeup going on.) It's certainly not a social website, though, considering that you can be warned for using NeoMail for pretty much anything other than Neopets-related things. :P

I'm amazed by all the people on the neoboards announcing all melodramatically that they're going to quit OMG. I'm a little uncomfortable with the new layout, but I'm sure I'll adjust and it may turn out to be fantastic. I don't think it was very fair of TNT to so drastically change pets that people paid so much for, however. (It doesn't really affect me, but certain ones, like zafara, look really different.)

You have to look at it from our point of view. I've been playing the site for 4 and a half years. Over that time, the site has snowballed down hill. This isn't the reason people are quitting. This is a tipping point. A culminating point which shows how much Neopets has changed.

We've stayed (relatively) silent throughout the years as the site lost its charm, its appeal that attracted us to the site originally. But this... this change - a change in which no user feedback was asked for - summarises the fact that Neopets is gone. Its no longer the site we loved, the site we signed up for years ago. Its a site that no longer asks its users their opinions - how hard is it to rig up a design plan on what the site will look like (heck! They will have had them in the office, so the programmers knew what the design) and poll our opinions, allow us to send them feedback.

There were days when Neopets would poll us on the redrawing of a pet.
Days when staff would come to sites like this and ask us what we thought of changes.
But this is a completely redesigned site. A site without any of its old feel. Neopets has ripped down our warm cottage and put up a cold, steel skyscraper.

The worst part is, they did it without asking us what we liked and didn't like about the idea of a skyscraper going up.

Its the gameroom change, except extended to the thousands of pages on the site. You can't expect people who have been a part of that site for years to roll over and play dead as everything we loved about Neopets is changed.
