Does anyone know whose funeral it was?

My guess was Locke or Sawyer, but there were no real clues.

Did anyone else notice who was behind Jack when he returned to LA? It was the lovely couple Jin and Sun! Fun :D

We're trying to figure it out. So far, all we've gotten from screencaps of the newspaper clipping is the name J_____entham. My guess is the name is Jeremy Bentham: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Bentham

Whoever it is, I'm pretty sure it's someone we haven't met yet. Remember, we still have 3 seasons to go until they get off the island, and a lot could happen between now and then.

Any chance of getting one of those screen shots for us?

Seeing as John Locke was named after a philosopher, this Jeremy Bentham guy doesn't seem like such a weird connection. I'd also be interested in seeing this screenshot :)

NO!!!

THEY KILLED THE ROCK AND ROLL HOBBIT?! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Good twist about the boat though. Will it come? Is it safe?
All these will not be answered next year. In fact, they'll lead to bigger mysteries which will make absolutely NO sense to ANYONE!

Wow. Intense. I just finished watching it now (2 am) because I had to Digitally Record it.

If you watched the special before the finale, the creators/producers talked about how the show not only took place in the present, but also the past, and was moving into the future; that we see where the characters are, what got them there, and where they are going. I took that figuritively, to mean that we will see how they develop. I was SO wrong. It is definitely in the literal sense, and I did not see that coming!

Seriously. I was thinking that Jack was meeting up with a) his ex-wive: too obvious. b) Ben. c) Locke. or d) one of Naomi's people, having really been a plant on the island the whole time. I was not prepared for it to be who it was (who I didn't recognize all made-up and pretty). Total shock!

I'm sad for Charlie. But I was sad for Boone and Shannon, as well. And Libby. I'm so glad he got the message to Desmond: I couldn't have lived with that message dying with him.

Well, I said I was a bit disappointed that, knowing the show would be on for 3 more seasons, the intensity would be lessened because we would know that their attempts to get off the island were futile. But man, they've introduced a whole new element! They are TOTALLY wrapping this thing up. It's not gonna end, as I think most of us thought, with them off the island and us never knowing what became of them. We're getting the full package here. Past, present, future.

I can't wait for next season. February? Wow.

I totally agree with you. Although, did anyone else have the inkling that Desmond kind of made that flash up? I have no idea why, but I just keep thinking that what he told Charlie was at least partially un-true. Personally, I wasn't sure why Charlie didn't just leave the room. Seeing as how the door opens into the room (Correct me if I'm wrong), as long as they close the door the water wouldn't be able to seep out. I think they also would have had plenty of time to escape.

And referring to the lost death prediction thread, I like how all three of my guesses (Ben, Locke and Sayid) were all potential deaths. I was so sure Jack was going to kill Ben after the gunshots.

I also thought Desmond made it up, well not all of it but he maybe changed the details a little.

Here's my conundrum:

If Jack's flashback happened in the future, after they were rescued, than why was he talking about his father being alive? He said to the chief of surgery "why don't you get my father down here and see if he is drunker than me." hmmmmm

And could it have been Juliets funeral? Maybe thats why Jack was so upset and maybe she does something awful against them before they get rescued and thats why no one went to the funeral.

I think the father comment was just Jack being a bit delirious - he probably wasn't thinking straight because of his medication problem. That's the only logical solution to me, but Lost always has a way to thwart that ;)

The Juliet thing would all make sense I guess, if it wasn't for the name found in the newspaper.. unless she'd had enough of being a woman and decided to make a few changes :P

I don't remember it being mentioned that it was a man.

Ooo I suppose we can't actually assume that Jeremy Bentham is who was being referred to... Then fair point with the Juliet thing... I guess we'll have to wait and see :o

About the comment about his father (this may have already been stated here):

I think he was making an impossible demand of the other doctor. "Bring my father down here and if he is drunker than I am, then I'll leave... oh, he's dead? well I guess you can't bring him down here. I win"

Sun May 27, 2007 4:36 am

Well yes but there was another comment when he went to get the perscription filled about how his Dad wrote it. But how could his Dad write a perscription if he is dead?

I know this can be explained by saying he forged it and left when they threatened to call the hospital. but I am not so sure...

No, I'm pretty sure he forged that one. That's why he wouldn't let her call to confirm.
