Zapped petpets... help?

I have a question about the petpet lab ray. Once a petpet is zapped with it and turned a different color or something similar, will it revert back to it's original state once unequipped from my pet (for sale in a shop or on the trading post)? I ask because I know a petpets level goes back to level 1 once it's unequipped, but I was wondering if color followed the same rule.

Yes. It will revert back to normal once you remove it.
