I am watching Shark Week yet again. I am finding myself wondering if I would like to swim with sharks.

I am 23. When I was half that age and lower, I was too scared of sharks to even want to see them in aquariums. Now they are some of the animals I want to see in aquariums. They are my number two fear after insects. They are the number one nightmare I have. They are my number one favorite aquatic animal. So would I swim with them?

I would love to give it a shot at least once in life. You?

I would absolutely adore the opportunity to swim with sharks. I don't know whether I'd ever want to "swim" with sharks in circumstances where you need to be in those big metal cages or in chain-link clothing but the smaller groups of (less vicious) sharks I'd love to swim with. The only reason I wouldn't like it is if the water was murky but that'd be unlikely to be the case.

I would love to swim with sharks. They are amazing and majestic creatures. Gah.. I love them so much! It would be so awesome to have that kind of experience.

I was bitten by a little dog shark once. Er, well, perhaps not bitten. Nibbled on is more like it. Silly baby dog sharks :P

Swimming with a shark would be intresting. One thing though, does the Canadian Medicare Plan cover shark bites? :P

When I was on vacation in Manihi (sp?) i went swimming and came face to face with a shark :P needless to say I was really scared, screamed underwater and nearly drowned. The shark was scared and swam away. It was less then a foot away from me =P

I put no: I would not want to be in the water with a shark. Even a nurse shark. I just don't even like thinking of sharks. {shudders}
I have had the opportunity, had I wanted to take it - several other people around did (it was confirmed it was a nurse shark first), but I stayed on the boat. Good thing I did, too, cause a barracuda came along shortly thereafter (and scared the shark and everything else away) and had our people jumping back on board ASAP.

Oh man I love sharks <3 !
They fascinate me so much, and even though I freaked out of my mind when I was snorkelling with one I still foud it great fun.
I ended up swimming with a reef shark, which was totally awesoem since we saw it eat up a fish ~:>

Do like sharks, as well as pretty much every other creature you can think of.
But seeing how I don't like swimming anymore ...it's a No.

Well, I can't swim, and I'm afraid of boats, so that wouldn't be the important question if the opportunity actually came around. :P But if I could swim, and I liked boats, and if I were offered the chance to go on a "shark swim", I don't think I would go. I'm the kind of person who would feel totally freaked out even if I knew it was harmless.

I think sharks are amazing and misunderstood creatures. If I had the money I'd definately be 1st in line to see them. I always wanted to touch one.

I think swimming with sharks would be really awesome! I think I'd be scared, but I'd enjoy it at the same time.

I'd much rather stay on the boat ;_;
I can watch sharks in the aquarium, but I wouldn't swim with them.

Heh, I wish I wasn't so downright horrified of sharks. I've got way too many phobias. But being forced as a little kid to go through a huge aquarium made up of a lot of terrifying things for me just scarred me for life. That one experience (I still want to kick the teachers' responsible for making it a requirement and dragging me along to go on this field trip) sparked several of my phobias- fear of heights (we walked over a freaking tank...god forbid they're careful that a kid would fall in, it was possible), fear of the dark (dark areas), fear a big things (dead serious), fear of bodies of water (and pools to a point- I can't look underwater or go past water that'd go over my shoulders), et cetera. I just plain hate sharks since I'm so terrified of them, just terrified. I don't want them harmed, since it's not their fault they scare me so much and they were here LONG before humans and we're the ones who intrude on their habitats and all, not to mention that it's just plain wrong to hurt them just because it suits some people or for no reason, but I still hate them in a way. XD Of course, I wouldn't have a chance to swim or be in the water at all with sharks: I'd have died of a heart attack (I really think I would, too, because I've got heart issues and I'm so easily frightened), or else been arrested and dragged to jail for assaulting anyone who forced me near anywhere with them. When I get that scared, I snap from being so panicked.

I'm glad there are people who like sharks enough to do this, though; sharks are having even more rough of a time from what I've seen on Discovery News, and adding that to a good number of people hating them in the first place or not caring either way makes it worse. They need people to who'd be first in line to help 'em out, or at least want to.
