Ahoy! It be International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Pirates were alcoholic thieves, murderers and rapists. It's not a jolly jaunt with jonny depp into the caribbean to butcher a crew or rape people when you go pillaging. It's all "ha-ha" pirates vs ninjas vs chuck norris to you lot, but that's not how it is.

Tell you what though, I'm a tolerant person, so today I'm going to make my own "Talk like an 18th Century African Slave Trader" day! Here's some tips:

"Ten good negroes for you captain, 6 peices of gold. These work hard!"
"This one will be good in the field"
*Gesture furiously attempting to depict the beheading of an unwanted slave*
"These slaves come from far inside africa, they very big strong"

Wow this is such an extraordinarily fun game! Who else can think of some great "talk-like-a..." themes?

Hmm well there've been lots of films about the jews, so how about talk like a nazi commandant day? They were probably AWESOME too.

Hang on I've just combined the commandant with slave trader!

Can anyone else think of something to glamourize? I hear the KKK know how to party!

....and it is exactly because of that that I didn't say whether or not he wins against ninjas/pirates/whatever. I personally don't care for all the Chuck Norris glorification, but for him to have to endure all of it could very well make him better than ninjas/pirates/etc.

You know, you didn't really need to watch more than one episode of Walker, Texas Ranger to know what happens in pretty much every other episode. Bad guys show up, good guys who are not Walker or his buddies get in trouble, Walker and his buddies show up and have a really badly cut fight scene, and the day is saved thanks to THE LAW, namely Walker and his buddies.

That's claiming a level of quality. That's different. The claim with Chuck Norris is that according to Walker, there is no more powerful being in the world.

Walker is merely a representative sample.

And, for the record, I have seen at least a dozen Chuck Norris movies, possibly 2 dozen, over my scant score-and-seven years. And yes, I did watch Walker on a regular basis in high school. And no, my blue jeans are not so tight that they cut off circulation south of my belt buckle.

Well, International Talk Like a Pirate Day has been and gone with minimal pirate spirit showed over here. I suspect people though my velvet jacket and cuffs were not pirate related but rather a sign of flamboiancy. Which is probably true.

so when I was at missouri-rolla talk like a pirate was a huge deal. the uni even sold t-shirts (I own one) that say UMRrrrrrrr. cute I know. People dress up and yar at eachother all day. Its quite fun.

but this year, now that I am at a different school, I only saw 1 other person w. a pirate related shirt on. Luckily he was hot (lol) but I was saddened by the lack of pirateness.

the mall had a lack of pirates too (I work there).


& for once I'm glad I'm not the one barking out a history lesson on a thread...
