How do you stop procrastinating and get your study done???
Guys I need help. A LOT of help. I'm gung ho with everything in my life except academics this semester. We have two weeks to go before exams and I'm finding it really difficult to sit my behind down and study the course material. Help!?

Re: How do you stop procrastinating and get your study done???
I found that migrating to the library was the best way.

And sitting where there were no laptops or computers or people you know generally helps. Quiet study areas = win.
That and don't overdo it. Study for an hour, then take an hour off, then study again. Brain overdose is a seriously bad problem.

Kill your computer.
Doesn't matter how, remove the hard drive, download a virus, whatever, just do it.

Maturity helps.

You realize that you had better do it now or you'll fail at life, that usually gets me motivated.

Block off time to be somewhere without distractions, and don't give yourself anything to do but school-related work. I have two extra hours where I'm at school but don't have class, every day. I'm terrible at studying, but if I get there and don't have anything with me except school stuff, I pretty much have no choice but to study.

Usually I just realize that if I dont get my fanny in gear then I'm going to fail. It also helps to go to the library even if your doing computer research. library computers dont have messanger on them so you cant procrastinate by talking to people and with onlookers I found its kinda embarassing to look at facebook and myspace. Plus the guilty feeling of looking at those while someone else might be waiting for a computer to actually get work done...
I've also been known to bring my books places like the band building when no ones really around. its an environment I like and I can get stuff done.
if the weather's nice, outside is good too. its relaxing and makes reading alot easier.

Exactly what I was going to say.
If you don't do well in University, you'll probably end up in a job you hate (If the singing thing doesn't work out). I know that I rather not work at Tommy Hilfiger for the rest of my life, so I study my butt off to get good grades.

Well, I've personally found that getting off PPT helps...its too interesting, thus distracting
but it does make for good motivation!

Or..like, not...either way

I have this theory that PPT would collapse were it not propped up by Kym's spam.
He is the very foundation.

take pieces of paper, every time you are distracted by something, stick the piece of paper on the object/person. and write "Stop Procrastinating, Go Study"

Well, I usually leave studying to the night before. I'm not sure if that would be last minute, or just before class the following day would be last minute.
I find it helps to go over your entire study material and make questions for them, instead of just reading it. What I do is I make the questions, and then play online Trivia on IRC with them. It helps if you have some prior commitment, (i.e. I promised Jill and Bill I would do the trivia, so I better start doing it now). You are more likely to keep promises for other people than for yourself.
That's just me. Not sure if that actually helps at all or not.

Re: How do you stop procrastinating and get your study done???
The trick is quite obviously to procrastinate procrastination! "Why postpone today what you could tomorrow postpone to next month?" and that sort of thing?
I got myself a pretty desktopper. It didn't actually change my attitute regarding work, but I find it helpful in pointing out to other people when they suggest that I should stop slacking and do some.
I was also considering getting Elitism, but in the end concluded that I could always order it later.

Will you stop with the honour stuff?
