I saw Colin Powell and George Bush (the elder) at a business event once, but never actually talked to them.

I met Richard Dawkins when he was in Philadelphia.

I'm listed in the acknowledgments of a Stephen Hawking book but I've never met him in person.

John Goodman owns a bar and grill down the street from my house. He's in there quite often when he's back home in St. Louis (he's from Affton, a burb of St. Louis).

I went to high school with part of Story of the Year. They're pretty cool guys. And I know some guys from The Urge. My brother went to high school with them.

I've met one of our senators. Shes pretty awesome!

Several broadway stars who've come through st. louis.

Mickey Carroll, the only surviving Munchkin from the Wizard of Oz. He's from South County where I live.

I've also met several players from the St. Louis Blues over my life span.

and this St. Pats I will be meeting 311!!! I'm too excited about that. I've been a huge fan since around 1996.

My -Undeniably tenuous- connection to al this extends beyond her being my sister, oh yes!
I got forwarded an email from Richard Hawley.

Amusing Pictures, as I recall.

Oh I want to be your sister. i love SFA :P

I've met a load of stand up comedians (some of whom I'd count among my friends) and some are more famous than others. I suppose the best-known would be Mark Watson (who I actually know as opposed to met once), Stewart Lee and Richard Herring and John Hegley for poetry geeks.

Me:

-I once saw Jesse Jackson at Pappas' Seafood in Houston. He was obviously there with his friends, and I had to make my family leave him alone. I'm a strong believer in not bothering famous people when they're trying to have lunch.

-When I was visiting Texas A/M as a National Merit Finalist, they took us all to a "Presidential Dinner" before the Kansas State football game. Former President George H.W. Bush (the current Bush's father) was there, about 30 feet away from me, and he gave a little speech. Robert Gates (Secretary of Defense) gave a speech too, and then Texas Governor Rick Perry. Later in the dinner, Perry actually came to our table, shook hands with us, and talked with us some. That was really awesome.

-I know and live near several astronauts. For instance, Lisa Nowak lives right down the street from me.

Other people:

-When my dad was in the military, he was presented an award by Ronald Reagan. That was 25 or so years ago.

-My dad also ran into Fred Thompson at the airport once, and Thompson gave a little speech to the crowd. I think my dad still has a video of it saved on his phone. That was while he was "not sure" he would run for President.

-My dad was friends with Ann Coulter's fiance (one of many) in law school, and knew her personally. They still trade emails sometimes.

-When President Bush (the one currently in office) came to NASA after the Columbia disaster, my mom stood really close to Bush. I think they shook hands also.

EDIT: I just realized all of the famous people I've met are politicians xD

Met a singer once...

I don't want to recount it. Let's just say I acted stupid.

I've only met locally famous people, a couple of local actors from some theatre productions i was in. Some DJs and newscasters.

Also an ex-lecturer (who I understand was first in the police force, became a lawyer, and then decided to teach) who decided to go into politics some years after I graduated. When i saw her on TV seeking votes I was like....it's HER, she decided to have a career change again?

It doesn't count until we meet you physically. "Yeah, I chatted with the manliest man on the planet. No, not in real life, but on a forum...No, really, it's him!"

Me: Uhm. *twitch* Yeah.... >.<
Friend: Helena..... what are you thinking....?
Me: No, not in real life, online... WHAT? IS THAT SO BAD?
Friend: YES IT IS. It's just someone pretending to him, OMG what are you doing talking to people you don't know online..etc.
Me: *sleeps through lecture*

I met Jonathan Hare from the BBC / Open University show Rough Science at a uni admissions day couple of weeks ago. He was pretty cool tbh. Just a regular guy who enjoys his science heh.

I've never met anyone famous. I probably wouldn't care if I did. I hate meeting people. (But you know I'm gonna BE famous someday :P) My dad has met plenty of famous people though (not the local stuff, the ones most people have actually heard of.) And he's done other stuff like hold the World Series trophy.

I wouldn't exactly called famous but she is very well known in her field.

Donna Williams - popular author, singer, author and painter, for the Autie (Autism) friendly society. Has written a number of popular books including Nobody Nowhere.

Being Aspergers I got to know her as my psycologist a couple of years back. She is autistic herself but fine. I know her very well and still in contact with her.
