I don't know what your high score is, but I used to think the same when my best was only in the 1600s. Then I found out that as long as you get to the last level (but not necessarily beat it) you get 250 points no matter what! So you only need 1750 to get the av, really.

managed to train my level 31 Kougra for free 3 times today, thanks to timezones and obsessive-compulsive clock-watching and hour-counting...
2nd round of training yielded a 2-point gain. Yay. (not yet done with round 3, as it's 10 hours a pop at his level)
