Movie Making Software

#1 Post by Katherine »

Hi all you PPTers! I am a starting director, and I'm looking for something to edit my movies with. These are some things to take into consideration:

I am NOT getting a Mac, so no iMovie.
I'd prefer free, but I'll pay up to $60 for it if I have to.

If you have anything that follows these requirements, please post it here!

When I had Windows, I use to use Windows Movie Maker (I think that's what it's called). I don't know how much it cost as it was already on my computer when I bought it.

Yep, that comes with my Windows package too, but I'd like something better.

I won't be able to get one, at least until I get to collage in 6 years or so! I already have enough computers. :)

Hey kcharles,

I would suggest cyberlink power director. You do need to pay, but I have no complaints about it, and I fell that it is leaps and bounds about windows movie maker (which isnt saying much). I would suggest reading up on its features though because Im not a film student and you may have different needs then I do. There are a couple different versions to for varying price ranges. Here is the page for the different versions And here is a link for a trial version

Well, if you can find him one for $60 or under...

Actually, this thread has helped me, since I was going to ask a similar question. Thanks!

We use Adobe Premier at Silly Wee Films, but unfortunately buying from Adobe for the student elements edition is like $69 although the pro version (that's the version we've got) is £349.

But that's only if you're a student. :/ Are you doing a course?
