Invalid security certificate for Neopets Premium

#1 Post by satiran »

Hi everyone, just came back onto Neo after about six months away. It's been crazy catching up on all the old news on the PPT forums! One of the things that lapsed when I was away was my Premium membership, which did not get renewed thanks to me changing my credit card number :) I tried to get back onto Premium by logging into the 'user admin' page but a page load error appeared:

Secure Connection Failed
premium.neopets.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate expired on 20/03/2008 12:59.
(Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate)
* This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
* If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Well that kind of freaked me out a bit, but just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem with Premium as well?

I've been getting that for a while now as well :x FF gives me the option to ignore the issue, though. What browser are you using?

Firefox too... version 3.0.3. I tried switching over to IE (version 7.0.5730.11) to see if it was a FF issue, but nope... security certificate issue on IE too. It's a little inconceivable that Neopets would've let its security certs expire, surely? :o

TNT needs to catch up on certificates :P

I am using FF2 and haven't had any issues in the past as far as not being able to do things :(

I haven't had any problems with it on FF 3.0.3 other than frustration for lack of the toolbar :/

I feel that the certificate is handled by the VSI (Velocity Services Inc) rather than the TNT.

ps.: For some strange reason, the VSI index site was not available for many months now. Considering the Neopets premium portal and the Neopets Toolbar was provided by VSI, I wonder...

Well I've resigned myself onto premium now, but on a monthly basis, especially after what you just said SwordFire!

Sorry about the distress caused - But everything is quite unclear regarding VSI. As mentioned, they initially have an index page, but for some reason, it has been forwarded to mail.com for several months (which is under VSI also). You can still access several webpages behind the index page - One of them still proudly shows Neopets as one of their partners...

Apparently the VSI servers are still running, otherwise all the alerts (Tarla, neomail and premium webmail) would have failed by now...
