Well there's some great tips on the main site but if you want my advice,. play as many games as you can, three times a day until you've earned 100,000 NP and then invest in the stock market. Key Quest is also a very good way to make money!

Welcome, neofairy! I think one of the coolest things about Neopets is how many *different* things there are to do! I'm a big fan of Keyquest, as well as playing many of the other games. I also enjoy training and customizing my pets.
