Australia

#1 Post by Rachel »

I went to see Australia this evening - it was one of the best films i've seen in a VERY long time. Very emotional & thoughtful, and despite being not much less than 3 hours didn't feel that long at all.

Has anyone else seen it? If so what did you think? (remember anything that's a spoiler use the lovely spoiler tag)

If you haven't seen it, i highly recommend it! I'm actually considering going to see it again, and the only film i've ever seen at the cinema more than once was Finding Nemo, and thats because i had free tickets.

I'm going to go see this. It was suppose to be the next Titanic but it didn't do so well at the box office. Shame given how good it looks.

How was Nicole Kidman in this movie?

She was fantastic! They were all really good, particarly the little boy that plays Nulla.

I dont understand why Nicole Kidman has been getting such a hard time about it - i thought she was fantastic in the role. Sometimes a little corney, but so was Hugh Jackman's character, and i really think that's what Baz Luhrman was going for. I dont know why people keep saying Cate Blanchett would have done better, i dont think she would have (but then i'm more of a Nicole fan than a Cate fan).

I think all the Botox that appears to be oozing out of her pores doesn't go well for critics or viewers.......

I loved Australia. It was such a fantastic, heart warming film. I haven't seen a film like it in years. I thought the entire cast was great - especially the boy who played Nullah.

I don't understand why she gets a hard time either.

She's a great actress, but I feel people judge her more severely than others because her most recent movies have been flops (The Golden Compass, The Invasion, etc...).

In any case, I still want to see this movie! I think I'll go on Monday!
