Quick Question

#1 Post by UnstableF8 »

I just created an account on neopets but I decided that I don't want it. What am I supposed to do? I'm never gonna log on it again. Am I allowed to give it away? I haven't been playing for long at all so I don't know the rules for that, sorry

No, you can't give it away. Just ignore it and don't log in. Once it's been inactive long enough, the account will be deleted, allowing the name to be reused (not sure about the pets, though). If you want to take care of the imaginary pets, you could put them in the pound (or transfer them to someone who wants them). You could also use all your NP to buy items and then just donate or give away all your items, if you're absolutely sure you won't be returning.

You can just leave it, or you can self freeze it.

Why don't you want it?

I've never tried it, but I'd bet that you must keep at least one pet.

I'll reiterate Kym's question - why don't you want your Neopets account?

Follow-up question... Will you be abandoning "UnstableF8" here as well?

You can self-freeze by following this link:

Thanks shapu!

That looks like an actual account removal, not just a self-freeze. Can anyone confirm? I'm not really interested in trying it out on my account :)

Well, they're the same, in the end. Neopets generally doesn't restore self-frozen accounts, so it's the same as a removal when all is said and done.

I would expect that a removal would free up the username for someone else to use, whereas a self-freeze would lock up the username.

No, self freezing just freezes your account, the username is still taken. It will be completely removed in the next batch TNT deletes. (Does TNT do it in batches? Or is there some sort of timer and it auto-deletes when a time is reached? Hmm)
