Why it is that when you click matching pairs they don't always work unless they are right next each other?

It drives me crazy clicking on pairs that I know match only for them to not disappear.

Yeah, it's a confusing game. I still don't know why some pairs work and some don't.

There is more to it than just matching pairs. One has to be able to get to another with at most two bends, I believe.

Is it just me or does the time go unusually fast on level 2?

Edit: Ohh nvm I just realized how the time in the game works, bleh.
