what do you think of my layout so far?

too plain? does it need more color? akward shape.

Im going for a really simple design that is actuall HTML 4.01 valid

I think it might be a little too plain, I like the colors though.

Spice it up a little with something in an bottom corner. (you know, those backgrounds that doenst move when you scroll)

actually ii liek the idea of it but it kinda leaves me hanging at like the bottom and side, maybe you should add liek a little border on th side or w/e and somehting eikt he ehad on the bottom
i dunno justa thought, otherwise its good
