The movie was good and funny. It certainly brought back old memories I thought I had put behind me (I was terrified of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when I was younger and watching this reminded me why).
I didn't much like the parts about Wonka's life though. They just seemed sort of tossed in but I had to laugh when he said, "Sorry, I just had a flashback." Its sort of ironic though that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory seemed to focus more on Charlie, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory seemed to focus more on Wonka.
I really didn't like the oompa loompa song-and-dances though. They were too flashy or something and I couldn't really make out what they were saying because I was getting too distracted by the oompa loompas themselves. Bah.
I loved the squirrels though! They were so cute
And I think they hit the nail on the head with the problem of having a nice clean and pretty transparent glass elevator. And Depps portrayal of Wonka was terrific and creepy. The kids were more hideously mannered too. I think I cracked up everytime they showed Augustus Gloop. Oh my gosh, and the puppet hospital XD They didn't have the squares that turned round though. That upset me.
