I agree with you entirely. I wasn't here for the LDP (I started playing before or during Jr. High, quit in High School, and came back before starting college...see a trend here? XD) This, however, seems to be the best plot I've seen so far (considering the research I did on earlier plots). I still think different stats should be tested, but perhaps at different stages of the plot, and "points" can be awarded accordingly, rather than just sticking them to battlers. And yes...again we visit the puzzle issue...but that doesn't test the pet at all really...more the player.

Anyways, why does everyone think a war is in the works? It seems if a war does start right then Neopets is get a little lazy. I mean if you seen were-creatures you wouldn't fight you would run then plot out what your going to do then fight. =P Last war plot I was ranked 3 when I should have been ranked more like 2.

Anyways, I really don't care what Neopets comes up with I just hope it's fun. So far the plot has been a rollercoaster of good and bad.

I think there are a few reasons people have thought a war was in the works. One being that TNT apparently mentioned a war being planned for the Haunted Woods in an Editorial at some point (although, I'm not sure if this was ever verified). Another reason being they were all expecting a war to be the "something big" for the Haunted Woods. And then add the zombies (mutants) and ghosties we've been dealing with for the past few weeks, as well as the last piece of artwork on the newest comic addition you've got cause for a bit of war-paranoia. ;D But it's not certain, of course. It's a bit difficult to tell where this plot is heading at the mo'...but I'm sure that's exactly how TNT wants it to be. ^^

You have a point there, even if you hardly intended to make it. Wars are a test of the pet, puzzles are a test of the player. Many players like their pet tested, many players like to test themselves, and just as many, if not more, like both.

Just think, for a minute, if you were a battler, would you enjoy being left out of real battling for many plots in a row? Puzzle plots, while enjoyable, would make a battler feel similar to the way you would feel if war was the only plot option available. Now, neopets has become far more creative with plots and are capable of including the player more. But there is no reason why players should be forced to battle - how about some extra points available, yeah?
I'll back track to the rank war for a moment. Nobody on the lower ends enjoyed the ranks - why? After all that hard work in raising their pets, others who put little effort into their pets were getting more points than they were. The point is, rewards should happen for whatever effort you put into something. I hope TNT's learned that, actually - 'fairness' isn't generally considered communism.
I don't know where I'm going here, though. Heh. ^^; Just rambling. I'm saying the same thing over and over. More things should count towards the plot - yay!

...

I'll go now.

Three minutes to sidebar!

Haha, nah, I'm sure lots of good battlers plan, but me? If they look too strong, I run - and if they look beatable, go in, whack away and find out.
(Note: I am too easily amused, perhaps?)
I think everyone agrees that the ranking was a bad idea, though. :P

I've only been making that point for an hour...XD

I'm not sure where you're going either. ;D I've already stated that if I were a battler, I'd enjoy wars more. And, in fact, I plan to be a battler once I hit my four month mark and I'm able to adopt the battle pet I've reserved in my guild's adoption agency. ;D But that doesn't mean that I'm excluded from the other plots either. And that still doesn't visit the issue of the people who aren't battlers, but raise their other stats. (I'm saying the same thing over and over as well). Like I said, puzzle plots are just for players, battle plots are for players and their pets. I'd like to include my pets in the plots more, without only being able to include battle pets. That's all I'm saying. ^-^ I agree that the rank war was ridiculous, and was unfair to the actual battlers. But I'm sure TNT has learned their lesson from that...I know some premium members who still throw a good stink about that. XD

Edit: Hooray for the Haunted Woods Sidebar. <3 I've got it on my "main" account (the plot, game, shop account) and my main side account (i.e. my favourite account XD). ::dances::

Edit again: Erm...apparently my post screwed up...better not do it again. ::waves pointy stick at post::

I was told the TCG had elements of a war in it?

That's a possibility. I really can't remember. After all the where-to's and why-for's I can't remember it all. XD It's also 2 o'clock in the morning...and I haven't had my Wheaties. Okay...I don't eat Wheaties...I'm just tired...and a bit delusional. I'll dream in Neopets tonight again...I swear. :roflol:

Ah well. So, most of us feel that the ranking thing was not good, some would like a couple more plots that involve pets but not battling, and we all agree that everyone thinks differently!

Me, I'm waiting for TNT to updaaaaate. They cheated my feelings, telling us something biiiiig yould happen on Halloween. That so was not biiiiig. Big, maybe, but not Biiiiig Big. :P

Eh, which bit of the TCG? Haha I don't really know much about the TCG to begin with, so I can't say much here.

*Laughs* Honestly, I swear to God I had a point when I started... whatever it was, I forgot. :S

Heh, good for you. I was about to say, you could have one of my labpets if you want. ^^ (Speaking of which, anyone want one, just message me. They've all got good names in my opinion.)

Yep, other pets. Really, for once I'd like to plan a plot myself. XD They can do all the fancy shmancy stuff, but I plan it, see. I'd put way too much in and people would complain.

Random thought, here. Wouldn't it be so cool if your pet's colour came into play? I mean, obviously, more expensive pets wouldn't be better in this way, but if they could somehow fit it in?
...
Okay, it's officially past 9 o'clock at night. I have absolutely no sense left. I'd better.. .go somewhere else... yeah. And just wait and see what fun stuff they bring on the Weekend. (Wednesday night now - I don't spend much, if any, time online on Thursday and Friday. So basically I'm happy as long as nothing happens until Saturday).

(P.S. Yay! Got the sidebar! I'm using it. ^^ )

Ahaha awww, thanks sweetie...but it'd be December before I could adopt one anyway...and the one I'm waiting for has a name that fits my "main" account perfectly and is level 31 with fairly good other stats as well. I have a feeling it's been labbed though, 'cause it's a creepy looking chia...I'm transing it to an Ixi when I get it. <3

I'd like to write entries for the Neopedia, and create different characters for it. I think it'd be fun. I like to see entries on characters that we know...like Tarla. It's like delving more into their personalities, making them come to life a lot more. ^_^

Hmm...well...I am disappointed with the plot updates for this evening, but I suppose it was to be expected. I'm sure they'll smack us in the face with something wild and hairy within the next few days. ;)

Oh and it would be interesting if a pet's colour came into play. But I still think it'd be an interesting thing to involve the Gourmet Foods (mind you none of my pets on ANY of my accounts have eaten gourmet foods, so it wouldn't do me any good XD). I mean...I'd just like to see how they did it. Or maybe to do a plot centered around food...maye I'm just hungry.

i wish that there will be a war in this plot, although i am not a BD challenger, its still quite fun to have some fight and not just puzzle solving only.

i am disappointed too that they dont release anything on Halloween.

too bad TNT always release plots near to my exams, i better be off studiying now.

PS: i got the sidebar too:D

Actually, I'm going to be rather sad to see this plot end. I usually come onto the PPT forums and go straight to my usual hideout, the General Chat board, but since this board started life I've been here all the time. I think I lurk here more than I lurk there now. o___0

And just think, when the plot ends this board will be locked away, to be seen but not posted on.

Actually, this plot was the whole reason I joined the PPT Forum. ::huggles this board and all of it's splits:: I've only visited General Chat a few times...it's scareh in there. Like the Neoboards (and I have premium mind you) I sort of hide when it comes to posting (or even lurking) on anything but the plot boards. Actually...I don't post on plot neoboards either, I just ignore them entirely. It seems to draw attention to your account, and I've noticed some of the more popular people on premium getting iced lately...so I think it's good to keep a low profile there. :>

But once this plot is over I will be cast aside, tossed to the raging winds of the unknown...to ever search for a board to post upon and not sound like a complete moron. Oh woe-is-me! Actually...it is a bit terrifying. I'm a bit scared of what I'll do once the plot is over and done with. (Oh...and I'm not making fun of you...please don't think that...I went back and re-read what I wrote and I was afraid it might come off the wrong way, but I didn't want to rewrite it 'cause I'm lazy...and so I typed up this amazingly long explanation...wow...I'm tired.)

Wow, a lot more speculating and arguing after I went to bed. I just got up to get the sidebar, and just spent 45 minutes catching up on all the various threads (and failing to procur the Deadly Dice avatar again).

I've been training for weeks in case there's a war element. I only got one point in the Meridell war, and I had to try the weakest enemy 3 times before beating him! What about people who spend their time fishing or playing lots of games? Should there be an event where you have to fish for an item? Actually, that sounds kind of fun...

I thought maybe the next wave would activate at midnight, but it doesn't appear to have (at least the TBC is still on the comic and no addition to the news). So goodnight! Has anyone less tired than me confirmed there's no other new component?
